Tournament Rules

Optional Rules/Clarifications

  • Special Play cards will NOT be allowed.
  • The Illegal Procedure rule will not be in use, nor is the 4-minute “timer” rule. However at the request of either coach a chess clock may be used to get the match on pace to finish on time.
  • Normal resurrection rules are in effect, meaning that SPPs are not recorded and injuries do not carry over between games.
  • We will be using the Vampire Roster from Spike 16, if a new team is released in between now and the tournament, we will review the rules and update the participants.

Team Building Rules

  • Each team has a total of 1,200,000 gp to spend on roster creation and must hire a minimum of 11 players. Any unspent cash at roster creation will be lost and all teams will be considered having the same Current Team Value (CTV) for the purpose of inducements and prayers to Nuffle.
  • Cash given is also used to buy rerolls, assistant coaches, cheerleaders, apothecary and so on.
  • The Bloodbonnet Bowl Classic is a resurrection tournament, so no SPP are gained, and injuries, casualties or deaths do not carry on from one game to other.
  • Undead, Necromantic and Nurgle teams are allowed to apply the Masters of Undeath and Plague Ridden special rules. Players added to a team roster through a game as a result of those special rules are removed from the roster at the end of that game.
  • Teams will consist of a minimum of 11 players and a maximum of 16 players.

Tiers and Skill Sets

Teams are separated in five different tiers and offered different skill sets to choose from. Each team is permitted to stack 2 Primary Skills on a maximum of 1 player at the cost of both 1 Primary Skill and 1 Secondary Skill. If your team and skill set do not allow you to give Secondary Skills to your players, you’re not allowed to stack skills. No more than four of the same skill is allowed to be chosen from your skills package.

Nothing else is allowed, be it a Blood Bowl Rulebook or Death Zone inducement

Star Players Invite

It’s the biggest Blood Bowl tournament in Texas. All of the star players have been invited to the party and there isn’t enough money to pay them to miss the event. No star players will be allowed to be purchased for the event.

Oh No, Dave’s Drunk!!

Before the tournament, each player will receive “Dave aka FACESTOMP” mini. Since it’s Dave’s Birthday Bash, the Slann mages holding the watch party wanted him to watch the game, as they do, and cast the Zapp! Spell on him turning him into a frog… However, the same as last year, he’s drunk by the third game and decided to storm the fields in the final round to relive his glory days. Everyone will get a chance to field Coach FACESTOMP on the pitch. He will have the following stats:

MA 6, ST 3, AG 3+, PA 4+, AV 9+, Drunkard, Dirty Player (+1), Pogo Stick, Very Long Legs

Chaos Round

Before Round 3, but after you know who you are playing, you may award 1 mutation to your team

  • The player gaining the mutation must be the lineman position type (0-12 or 0-16) on your team and cannot have been given an additional skill increase for the tournament already
  • You must clearly mark which player has the mutation and make sure your opponent knows what you have chosen before the game begins
  • If your team race is a CHAOS, CHAOS PACT, NURGLE, or KHORNE team, you are an exception to the above “Linemen only” rule for awarding mutation. You can still only award a mutation to a  player that has not yet received an upgrade, but it can be any player type, not just 0-12 / 0-16

NAF Tournament Info

This will be a NAF approved tournament. If you wish to receive limited edition yearly gift and have your tournament progress tracked, there will be a NAF official onsite accepting registration for the cost of $5/year. More information can be found at TheNAF.net

Timing

The time limit WILL be strictly enforced. You will receive ‘Time Remaining’ updates from the Tournament Organizer to help you stay on pace.

When time is called, you will play “even turns”. If you just started turn 7(for example), then you and your opponent each finish turn 7. If the inactive player has already played the current turn the game ends upon completion of the active player’s current turn.

As stated above a chess clock may be requested by either coach after the 1 hour mark.

Dice

Only GW, NAF, or Texas Block Dice will be allowed. You are required to share dice with your opponent if requested.

Scoring

During each round, you will fill out a score sheet to track your progress. At the end of the match, you will add up the scoring as follows:

  • A WIN is worth 60pts
  • A DRAW is worth 30pts
  • A LOSS is worth 10pts
  • If you lose by 1 Touchdown, you earn +2 bonus pts
  • If you caused 1 more CAS from Blocking than opp you earn +2 bonus pts
  • If you caused 2 or more CAS from Blocking than opp you earn +5 bonus pts
  • If you clear the pitch you earn +5 bonus pts (Once per game)
  • If you won by 2 Touchdowns you earn +2 bonus pts
  • If you won by 3 or more Touchdowns you earn +5 bonus pts
  • If you finished the game by using all turns +3 bonus pts

Please note that casualties counted toward the above include those from blocks, fouls, chainsaws, bombs, stabs, thrown players landing on an opposing player, and Crowd Surfing. If they are from your opponents own teammates, failed dodges, failed rushes, or directly from a kickoff event they do not count.
There is a no championship game the standings will solely be determined by total points

Overtime

There will be no overtime played. If your game ends in a draw, it’s draw.

Tiebreakers

The scoring system has been setup to hopefully get the most accurate representation of how everyone has performed. If, by chance there is a tie in Tournament points, the ties will be broken in this order:

  • Winning Percentage
  • Head to Head
  • TD Diff + Cas Diff
  • TD Diff
  • Rat Ogre Ball

Painting

All teams are expected to meet the minimum painted guidelines. They must have 3 colors on them and have had some attempt at making them appear finished.

Sportsmanship

We are here to enjoy the game of Blood Bowl. We expect good sportsmanship. Note that:
Fouling 16 turns in a row and running up the score is not poor sportsmanship, but gloating and ridiculing your opponent while doing so is.

Awards

In order to qualify for any award, the coach must complete all 3 rounds.

The following awards will be given out after the last round:

  • Bloodbonnet Bowl Champ – Most Tournament Points.
  • Bloodbonnet Bowl Runner-Up – Second Most Tournament Points.
  • Bloodbonnet Bowl Third Place – Third Most Tournament Points.
  • Best Offense – Most TDs scored
